hi i’ve had alot of people asking if it is ok to keep 2 rabbits together this is what ive told them

IS IT BETTER TO KEEP TWO RABBITS TOGETHER ?
Rabbits are happy to live alone as long as you have the time to give it the companionship it needs.

ARE TWO GIRLS (females) THE BEST OPTION IF YOU WANT TWO RABBITS TO LIVE TOGETHER?
Two does from the same litter usually live happy together.
Two unrelated does may or may not  fight when they are older or when they reach sexual maturity.
Other options
A buck and a doe , but the buck will have to be neutered around 4/5 months.

On the whole, the following is true:

Males and females can live together quite happily but you must be prepared for the consequences – Doe’s breed continuously throughout the year and it would be very unfair to breed her so many times, not to mention the effect it would have on her general health.

Males very rarely live with other males. They tend to get territorial and one will try and dominate the other. This will usually result in serious injury or even death. Some males may tolerate each other when they are outside of their hutches (in a run or the garden) as opposed to being kept together in 1 cage.

Females will nearly always live happily with another female. This is particularly true if both Doe’s have been introduced from a very early age, or are from the same litter. You may, sometimes, be able to introduce an older female to another one but  suggest you watch them closely for a few days to make sure they do not fight. Does make better pets as they have a better temperament than bucks and will quite happily live together without fighting.

Males can be neutered and then they will be able to live with the female and you will not have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy. This is great because they get companionship which makes them happy and healthier. Neutering male/male and female/female pairs also means they are more likely to live together without fighting.

can i give my baby bunny greens?

i have always given my babies greens since they first started eating solids,but people have their own opinon..mine has never had any problems. you must NOT give your rabbit any lettuce of any sort as it will KILL it.

how often do my bunnies nails need to be clipped

i say to people about every 6/8 weeks but you must not cut above the quick as it will bleed if you can’t do it yourself book in to a vet or get some one who has experience in doing this type of thing

how do i sex my baby bunny

you can sex a babies from a few days old but more experianced people can do this i sex mine from about 2/3 weeks when they are abit more mature

when you do this you must be carefull not to hurt the bunny or yourself as they will try and kick you with their hind legs,you need to get your baby on to it’s back but supporting all the time once its relaxed you can look at its bottom if you slightly push on it you will either see a slit which is a DOE or a circle which is for a BUCK.

if your are no longer able to take care of your bunny

i do offer to have any bunnies back that is unwanted if you have any changes in circumstances.i may need to have the cages or hutches to keep them in and no money is offered for this
